The first Soroptimist Club was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California, today more than 100.000 women in over 3000 clubs in 120 countries and territories all over the world form the membership.

The first Soroptimist Club in Kosova was established in Prishtina on November 2003.

Soroptimist International, a worldwide organization for women in management and professions is a global voice for women through Awareness, Advocacy and Action, and it's objectives are:
      • Human rights for all
      • Equality, development and peace
      • High ethical standards
      • The advancement of the status of women
through International Goodwill, Understanding and Friendship.

The word Soroptimist comes from the Latin words Soror meaning " sister " and Optima, meaning " best ", and loosely translates as " best for women ".
